Page 2 of 4 Now for the “O” in SOAP. Write down your observations about the verse or passage you just read. It might remind you of a situation you are currently facing. Write that down. Perhaps it gives advice for a relationship that you are dealing with at the moment. Excellent! Write that down. In other words, if this passage says something to you, then write it down. The next part can be the hardest, but its worth it. How does this Scripture and your observations about it apply to your daily living as a disciple of Jesus Christ? That’s the “A” from SOAP. I like to think of this step as the answer to the question, “So what now?” How are you going to think, act, speak, and live differently as a result of reading this passage or verse? Once you and God decide, write it down.
